Day 2: Animal Rescue Kingdom

After another night of less than 4 hours of sleep, I  am happy to say I haven't been tired at all, all day!

Today was fabulous! We woke up at 5:50 because Jane? (I think that's who it is, unless it's Emily) came in with Kat's Dad on the phone. We were all wide awake by the time Jane left the room.  We got up, chilled and got dress. I had toast bacon, cereal, and yogurt for breakfast. no, I wasn't hungry at all! After breakfast, we still had some chill time before we had to leave for ARK.

Once we got to ARK I was in heaven. Like legit heaven! ARK is like a very dirty heaven with Dogs everywhere!! My favorite? The pit! I love her!!! I am taking her home!! If she goes missing you know where to find her: whippany. 

We spent the first few minutes hanging out with the dogs, and observing them. We then gathered to combine our observations. Some of our findings include: mange, worms, open wounds, ticks ticks and more ticks, and infections. We brain stormed on ideas of what to fix some of the issues. 

 Hannah then taught us how to do a basic exam on the dogs. Consisting of checking lips for dehydration, gums for heart issues, eyes for liver issues, lymph nodes for signs of infection, spine and hips for weight, annal glands, feel around stomach for different organs, and to listen to the heart and lungs.

Next, we got to examine the puppies and have a little bit of puppy playtime. Loved them! Following puppy playtime we SCRUBBED up and went for lunch. We had pat thai. It was D!! We also took that time to "clean-up" with some wet ones. 

Upon arriving back at ARK, We paired up, and I worked with Aussie (Maddi)  and we pulled TONS of ticks off of many many pups. The pit had about 50 ticks in total just between her toes. I felt so bad for her.  

While Maddi and I were working, Kat and Hailey got scared by a dog who got frightened by them being scared and chased them. They screamed and ran.  It was scarey but a little comical at the same time. We named that dog arabian princess. 

After helping a few of the dogs, others (dogs) started to catch on   To what we were doing and would run the other way.  Due to that we didn't get through all of them.

When we got back to the Hostel, we all ran in to the showers.. we had had a blast! Singing, dancing and just being plain crazy!! IT was a heaps of fun!

After we chilled in the common area. We watched a few youtube videos, and danced. When it poured, we did what anyone would do... We ran out and danced!! It was GREAT!  It was actually a thunderish storm! (Update 8/5: That was our only THUNDERish storm!)

A little later on we headed out for dinner with the plight of Thai elephant group. Dinner was not nearly as good as lunch. However it was still heaps of fun! We then headed to the Student market. The plight group's leader made us split into two groups and required our groups to mix. My group was, Kat, & Hailey and then Morgan, Brain, and Katie from the other group. Kat and Hailey wandered off while Brain, Morgan and Katie (Maine) were looking at shirts. I knew it was best to stay with Brian Morgan and Kaite becasue they had the phone. I tried talking  to Kat and Hailey to stay, but they wouldn't listen. THey told me they'd be looking right next to where the four of us were. When the four of us went to meet them there, they were gone.
We all kinda freaked a bit. 1. We had no idea where they were or if they had been kidnapped or something 2. If the plight group's leader called she had to be able to talk to all of us within one minute of us answering.3. If Hannah and the Plight groups leader were walking around and only saw us or them we'd be in trouble 4. We didn't want to be in trouble and lose our privileges of going off on our own. 5. We knew if we'd call we'd be in trouble. 6. We didn't want Kat and Hailey to get hurt 7. We didn't want Kat or Hailey to be stuck with a staff member 24/7
After a long 15 minutes of looking for them, we FINALLY found them! We shopped a little bit more. I bought a bracelet for my sister. We then headed back to meet everyone. I wasn't too crazy about this market.

We all chilled out for a bit.
